I got a bit of a late start because I cranked up the temperature when I took a shower and the remote died. I futzed around with it and eventually got it back to life long enough to take it out of full Hades mode.
The plan for today was to skip most of the official Camino route and take the more direct Google Maps walking directions to Coimbra. The difference was an impossible 38km versus a doable 30km. We would bypass the wooded paths and stick to the roads.
When I went out the door I got the message the cafe we were supposed to meet at was closed and they were going to the next. From my very nice place I walked a pleasant road through cute hamlets. It got a little busier when I got to the main road but it was still pretty quiet. I passed the original meeting place and it either had special hours on Sunday or would not be open until Sunday. Francisco confirmed the later.
I met Jeanne and Francisco at the next cafe. Today it works out we have a cafe about every hour. We walked. Got a coffee. Walked, got coffee. ... Eventually, we were in Coimbra. A little rain along the way but we only had the ponchos on for 30 minutes. No puddles we could not navigate. A pretty uneventful walk.
When we above the city and having our final coffee break, we had beer.
In town we had more beer while we found a place for dinner. Once settled we headed off for quick showers and met at the restaurant. We had a good meal and then we were all ready for bed.
Tomorrow is a day off and Francisco who lived here for two years is going to play tour guide.
I am so tired now.
