Nobody slept well last night. My watch reported one of my worst sleep scores ever. Mike and I met Francisco and Jeanne at the cafe next to the hotel/albergue.
We started out dragging and the were no coffee places until 6km. We were walking a lot of up and down along the top of the edge of the houses. Many farms and high end houses; some were nice renovations and others were large square white blocks with big windows. We were on and off wooded trails. It was a pretty morning but it was some work and there was no coffee.
We came out of the woods to a coffee stand that was due to open tomorrow. Francisco asked for coffee and we became the first patrons of the new coffee shop.
We sloughed on to Caminha, our last town in Portugal. We talked to the boat taxi guy and had just missed the last boat before the lunch break. We bought our 6€ tickets and went to find some food. We found a place with sandwiches on baguettes.
The boat taxi was pretty crazy. We got on from a box pressed into the sand. All the way across the engine sounded like it was going to cut out because earlier in the day sand or something got into it. I think it must have been a little water in the gas because I'm pretty sure sand would be fatal to an engine. Our driver was an excitable guy who was saying something about have a father and brothers in Canada. Francisco could not keep up with the translation and when the driver tried to speak in English I could not follow him.
It was probably a good thing we ate in Portugal as the Spanish side didn't have much going on. We just walked the 3km to A Guarda and had a couple of beers.
Mike and I were staying in a decent enough hotel but the old lady who checked us in was painful slow. She did seem to have a thing for Mike. She did not seem to like me. We took our clothes to a nearby coin laundry and left to have a shower. Retuning we saw an error flashing and the clothes had not been cleaned. We started them again in a new machine and had a beer across the street.
We met Francisco and Jeanne at a tapas place. It was quite good.
Early start tomorrow.
