Camino Portugues Day 20: Baiona to Vigo

It was a shorter day but it felt long.  The pain of the days builds up and if you don't have a light day it gets tough.

The bar we were to meet at at 7:30 was not open yet so we started out without any coffee.  We found an open place just before reaching the Irish bar from last night.

Just past 2km we stopped again because we needed churros.  Hmmm, churros.

It was a mostly urban day.  We cut some Camino corners and stayed on some of the flatter main roads instead of noodling around extra distances to go up steep hill and rough terrain.  We were too tired for it.

Mike was struggling today.  After flying through the first few days, some of the hilly trails and long days took their toll.  On a steep descent he announced his intention to take a rest day.  Tomorrow will be a long one as we have to go all the way to Pontevedra.  The train will get him there in 32 minutes.

Coming into Vigo was a long urban slog.  Lots of traffic and just city walking.  It felt like we had been in Vigo forever.  It is much bigger than I expected; it does have a football team in the top third of La Liga.  We stopped for lunch with about 3km left to the hotel.

I picked a burger place for dinner and it was not a good choice.  Apparently, I had the best burger according to Francisco who sampled all of them.  Mine was not what I had in mind when the thought of a burger came to me.  It was extremely heavy with meat, bacon and cheese.  I could not finish even with Francisco help.  I paid for my mistake.  Like I felt bad for the choice and paid. Literally.

The hotel is on the main square.  Lots going on in the bars below my window.  A not great guitar player is doing "Smoke on the Water" ... sounds like my brother in highschool.  Still I am so tired I will be asleep in a few minutes.
