Camino Portugues Day 14: Porto to Labruge

Last night Francisco sent out a meeting place for the morning.  As we walked to it I said why are we meeting here?  It's not near any of us.  We got there and he change the location.  By the time we got to them we had about 2km.  It was a nice little city tour.  Porto is very nice and is a great place to visit.  Tons of history and churches and famous stuff.

The walk down to the river was a noodle down steep, cobblestone streets.  Buildings were in every state: fully renovated to falling apart.

Along the river we had a long pleasant walk to the sea.  At one point there was a metal walkway attached to a busy section of road that hung over the river.  Walking that gave a feeling of vertigo with the moving river beside and below and the moving traffic on the other side.  I was feeling a little barfy by the end.

Soon we came to the ocean and walked along beach boardwalks.  Lots of people out for walks or working out or just getting coffee.

We had many kilometers of wood planked deck path beside sandy and rocky beaches.  There were a lot of surfers out.

While walking, under duress, Francisco made me promise to put the following in my blog.

"Francisco is an angel. The best decision I made today is taking the coastal route. The best decision we made today was taking the coastal route as it is fantastic and sunny and Francisco wants to read this in my blog tomorrow

As Francisco would say Francisco is right."

I was under duress.  He threatened to not stop for piri piri chicken if I did not agree to this.  Contact fulfilled.  The chicken was great.

With a few kilometers to the place I booked for Mike and I ... apparently everyone was telling me not to yesterday but I heard it the other way ... we stopped for a beer and work break.  Jeanne and Francisco both had work conference calls they had to take.  Mike and I had the beer.  We left them there and continued to our place.  We will catch them in the morning.

Our rooms are little studios in a house off the beach.  The area has a holiday vibe.  There was an energetic multilingual guy running the restaurant and the customers seemed to cover most of Europe and North America.  Dinner was pretty good and quite cheap.  We got the half portions.
