I started walking just after 7 but the moon was out and I only turned on the light to check signs and one rocky section. I made quick work of the first 8km to Castrojeriz.
I stopped for cafe con leche and tortilla. The coffee was better than the last few days but still not as good since Logrono. While sitting there I tried Amex again. This time I was on hold for what turned into several kilometers but I got a flight on my original date. Good to have that all sorted. I am no getting notices I owe Orange mobile for the international call overages. I played with it though the day and finally figured it out in my room. I made a 5€ payment not sure it went to the right bucket.
There were not many towns today and lot of big open spaces. I could see where I was going for what seemed like hours. In the only town with a bar I had a jamon and cheese sandwich, coke and coffee. That seems to be becoming my standard lunch.
After that I had another 8km with long views of fields where they appeared to be growing rocks. The distance went by quickly enough and to that point I had seen nobody I knew. Boadilla is a much smaller town than I expected and other than this hotel and a few albergues there isn't much.
I sat for a moment at the church and Joe who was in the room in Ages walked by and we had a chat. In the hotel I saw Linda who I met in Zubiri. Sitting here having a beer there are quite a few people I've seen Hirm, some of the Italians, quiet German guy and a girl I met several times today.
Hotels here have these great fire trap doors. This would be sooo illegal in North America but the way it is here. One place needed a key to enter/exit the building and the key had been copied so many times it barely worked.
Albergue style dinner at the hotel seems to be the only option in town so I guess that's what it will be. None of the albergue dinner have been all that good. Usually 12E and they don't come close to what we had in Burgos for 16E. Tomorrow should have good food.
