Day 12 - Ages to Burgos

Last night tired me out.  Dinner at the albergue was ok.  It included wine and then there was more beer.  suddenly it was 10pm and everybody left for bed.

I was hot in my sleeping bag liner and kicked it off.  So far, there has been no need for a sleeping bag.

I was out just after 7, grabbed a coffee and started walking in the dark.  Most of this was on the road and with the moon out so I walked without light most of the time.  I turned it on when the few cars passed by.

It became light just as I started a climb.  The area behind was really nice as the sun came up.  Skies were clear and after a rainy day and a few cloudy ones this was good.

Appoaching the top of the ridge the quiet morning was disturbed by a distant freeway and heavy machinery at a quarry.  Over the top you could see Burgos in the distance.

Appoaching Cardeñuela Riopico Marie caught up to me and we walked and talked to the albergue/bar there.  I got a cafe con leche and a nice slice of tortilla.  There was a large number of pilgrims there most I was familiar with.

I left alone and soon walked over the noisy freeway.  Then there was a route option.  Slightly longer way through a park or official route walking industrial roads.  I chose park.  It started by walking the perimeter of the airport and then paths in wooded areas, then wide paved city park path with a bicycle path beside it.  That brought me all the way into Burgos.

The old city is very nice and my very small hotel with coded doors and no humans is there.  Coming into the old building there is only a tiny sign and keypad.  Inside the building there is no hint of a hotel.  At the second floor there is another keypad into a small common area and 4 hotel rooms.  Smallest hotel ever!  My room is small but very nice and I have little balcony.

I was starving so I showered and went across the street for a little jamon sandwich, patatas bravas and a coke.  I can't drink any beer today.

Back in my room doing my laundry was exhusting and I have been laying around all afternoon.  Today felt hard for some reason (beer?).  I haven't felt this tired before.  I think I had a bit of a nap sitting looking at my phone.  The sun on the balcony has mostly dried my clothes and it is time to go out for a walk around and find some dinner.
