I meant to have a quiet night but after blogging I sat with 2 Americans, a woman I can't remember her name and a guy from Florida who goes by Alfredo and 3 English guys who remind me of Mike, Bob and I on tour (arguing, bickering and loving it).
Alfredo, me and the English moved into the hostal restaurant and ordered dinner together and wine was had and then we were drinking to God save the King. The English guys as I understood (their English wasn't very good) had served together and got together to bicker and walk the Camino. Fun guys!
I did get to bed fairly early and got good sleep. out the dooor at 7 and walking through town a few minutes later I saw Eddie cominng out of his albergue and we walked together for quite a few km. He is a smart younger guy. Very fun to talk to.
When we got to Villafranca Montes de Oca I stopped for cafe con leche and a sausage sandwich (4.7€) and sat with Ed from London Ontario as Eddie went on. Not having looked at the map I did not realize out of the town there was quite a climb.
After that, there was a little up and down and lomg stretch of wide path forested on both sides. I wlked alone and was grinding it out. On the gradual descent Sarah blew passed me, then Tom. In San Juan a group featureing Sarh and Tom was at a bar/albergue and I joined. I had a jamon and cheese sandwich, coke and cafe con leche for 7.7€.
Afterward I felt energized and agressively walked the last 4 km to the albergue. I got a bed in a 4 person room and I was the second in. The first in was taking really long shower ... it was Eddie.
Post shower Eddied, Dimitry from
Boston and the Irish crew and Southampton Tom and Max and Josh and I can't remember had many beers and wines. The US Constitution and a bunch of other things were discussed.
We are now about to have a big group dinner.
